Hotline Tip: Notarizing Motor Vehicle Titles
(EDITOR'S NOTE: The National Notary Association cannot answer questions most how to purchase a vehicle, sell a vehicle, process a vehicle title or transfer a vehicle title between persons in unlike states. If you have questions related to processing a vehicle auction, purchase or championship paperwork, please contact the appropriate state motor vehicle department for assistance.)
If I am notarizing a motor vehicle title, practice both the seller and the buyer have to be physically present at the same time in society for me to notarize their signatures, or just the seller? — H.W., Scranton, Pennsylvania
You non demand both parties to be physically present at the time of notarization, but you can only notarize for the person who is actualization before you. The other person can take their signature notarized at some other time.
Hotline answers are based on the laws in the state where the question originated and may not reflect the laws of other states. If in doubt, always refer to your own land statutes. –The Editors
